7 Amazing tips to how to make a toddler bed cozy

Here are 7 Amazing tips to make a toddler bed Cozy! Everyone loves jumping into a fluffy and cozy bed; kids especially!

I think the main part of any bedroom decor is the bed (I guess that sounds silly. Of course the bed in the bedroom is important…duh) but seriously the bed is the focal point. Nothing can elevate a bedroom more than a gloriously made, lofty, cozy, ‘you wanna jump right in’ bed! Kids feel this way too!! Here are a few simple ways to make a toddler bed cozy!!

A bedtime routine is crucial for creating healthy sleep patterns and a cozy bed is a good idea of where to start!!

how to make a toddler bed

1. The mattress!!

Whether it’s a big kid bed, bunk beds, a convertible crib, a twin bed, or a brand new bed the mattress is the base for the rest. If you don’t have a super high-quality bed, especially in a kid’s bedroom (you know….accidents happen lol) no worries! We bought an inexpensive bed with designs of eventually trading it out in a year or two when we are in the clear (if you know what I mean). In the meantime, we added a nice quality mattress pad on top which we layered with a protective cover.

Then comes the layering. To me, a bed has to have layers. If you’re too warm, lose a layer; if you get too cold, pull up a layer and get cozy.

2. Layering, sheets, blankets…

Next are the sheets. The truth is nowadays, you really don’t need to spend a lot to get nice quality sheets. We bought these cute yeti sheets on Pottery Barn. They are neutral in color but add a fun touch. These are my favorite sheets that we use on our bed!

I always use a quilt next. Here is where you can add a splash of color if you choose. It’s a nice mid-layer for moderate days.

Then I tri-fold a comforter and leave it towards the foot of the bed. I especially like doing this because when you pull it up, there is so much extra material to get all snuggled in, yet your feet are still covered.

Grab an inexpensive throw blanket and bunch it up and lay it across the base of the bed.

3. Functional pillows

Ok, so I require a lot of pillows when I sleep. When I am at a hotel, I am always the guest requesting more pillows. Plus, we are working on a kid’s bed so hellllooooo, pillow forts!

I lay my sleeping pillows flat, two on top of each other.

I also love two Euro pillows placed standing in front

4. Throw pillows

In front of these, I stand up throw pillows or European Shams. The key here is to invest in the fillers(Euro pillows). You can buy inexpensive covers but the fillers are the secret to a super fluffy look! Stuffies can be pillows too!! toss a few fun throw pillows or stuffies in front!

The following few suggestions aren’t literally part of the bed but they are literally close LOL!! I can’t imagine not being part of a cozy bedroom let alone a kid’s bedroom

5. Aroma

So this isn’t exactly part of the bed but it’s close. Essential oils do more than make the room smell great, they help physically put us in a state of sleep or energy too. I love this cute owl diffuser!!

6. Lighting

Again, not exactly part of the bed but I can’t think of much more to make a bed/room cozy than dim light. I also keep a handheld night light close by. It is so handy when trying to grab something from his room or if a little one needs to make a quick bathroom trip

7. Sound

I can’t think of anything more important to a baby’s nursery and child’s bedroom than a sound machine. This was probably the most crucial component of our son’s nursery and still is part of his sleep routine. I now use a sleep machine too!! It’s seriously a game-changer!

Safety should not be forgotten, guard rails, side rails, side panels or bed rails can create a cozy night’s sleep allowing the little one to make a smooth transition to a big-kid bed from their old crib. These safety add-ons can turn what could be a hard time into an easy transition and give your little girl or little boys a safe space.

This may seem odd but bed construction is another safety feature that can be overlooked. When shopping for this type of furniture I always look for pocket holes that provide stable construction in the bed frame along with wood glue and wood screws. especially if it’s a DIY project. it’s a big deal in a new toddler bed or a big boy bed or a big girl bed
